The rules, in plain terms

Must be a real Singapore address

Section 142(1) of the Companies Act requires every Singapore company to keep a registered office in Singapore at all times. A P.O. box does not qualify.

Accessible for 3 hours a day

The address must be accessible to the public for at least three hours during normal business hours on each business day, so someone can walk in or have a letter received.

Not just any residential address

A private home generally doesn't qualify unless it's approved under a home-based business scheme, and even then, with restrictions.

Update within 14 days

If your registered address changes, it must be filed with ACRA through BizFile+ within 14 days.

This is general information, not legal advice — rules can change, so confirm current requirements with ACRA or your corporate secretary before you file.

ACRA registered address FAQ

What does ACRA require from a registered office address?

Under Section 142(1) of the Companies Act, every Singapore company must have a registered office in Singapore. It must be a physical address accessible to the public for at least three hours during normal business hours on each business day, so documents can be delivered and enquiries made in person. A P.O. box is not accepted.

Can I use my home address to register a company instead?

In some cases, under schemes like HDB's Home Office Scheme or URA's Home-Based Business Scheme, but these come with restrictions on business type, signage, and visitors, and eligibility depends on your property type. A virtual office avoids these restrictions and keeps your home address off public record.

What happens if I change my registered address?

Any change of registered office address must be filed with ACRA via BizFile+ within 14 days of the change.
